The Charge 4 is the first tracker to get some sleep features previously reserved for Fitbit smartwatches. If you haven’t tried Fitbit Premium, the Charge 4 comes with a 90-day free trial. There are also mindfulness tools and challenges, all to help you achieve your goals.

The paid-for section of the app has plenty of programs and workouts already, but it now adds 40 new pieces content from brands like Down Dog, barre3 and Physique 57. By monitoring the heart throughout it can give you a summary of a workout with details of heart rate zones to help you understand it. The idea is that it encourages you to hit your goals with alerts on the wrist each time you move up or down a zone so you can push yourself that bit harder if you need to. It means that each minute of even moderate activity earns credit and vigorous action in cardio and peak zones earns twice as much. This is a new feature and is a personalized standard using your heart rate and age made possible because the Charge 4 is tracking your heart rate non-stop. However, weather data still refused to sync for me (it worked fine for our photographer, oddly), and the Fitbit app crashed a few times suggesting that there are some bugs to iron out.Fitbit_App_Android_AZM_day_view_breakdown Fitbit Active Zone Minutes (I had no other Fitbits, trackers or watches connected to the phone.)Īfter that, it seemed to settle down and work ok, syncing data with the Fitbit app automatically and allowing me to use Alexa. For the first few days, it wouldn’t stay connected for any period of time, requiring me to disable and re-enable Bluetooth on the phone sometimes and, at other times, hold the Versa 4’s button for 10 seconds to reboot it at others.

My major gripe was that the Bluetooth connection to my iPhone 12 was unreliable. Given the Versa doesn’t have the body response sensor, and Fitbit’s website says only the Sense 2 has a ‘skin temperature sensor’, it’s unclear exactly how the Versa 4 can report on skin temperature. Similarly, for the rest of the stats, including SpO2 and skin temperature, I had to take the Versa’s word for it. GPS and heart rate tracking was also good, although for heart rate, I didn’t have a medial-grade device to compare it against.
